Cordele Anyone?

My wonderful job has landed my in Cordele, Ga for a speaker program this evening--that is not even my program. I am helping another worker on my team since he is new to the job. I left Augusta this afternoon and began the miserable drive to Cordele--the ride goes by soooo slow. The doctor who was supposed to be the keynote speaker, was delayed in the Atlanta airport, so yours truly was called out of the bullpen! After the program, I am headed to my good friend and co-worker Jodi's house in Macon for the night, and then we get to participate in partner work day tomorrow...it should be very similar to Jim and Dwight field rides together.

As for my husband, he hacked it around today in the first round of his event in Houston. He shot 75. He decided to get off to a good start and then make five bogeys just to make things more interesting for tomorrow. It is my birthday Saturday, so I will be expecting the gifts to start pouring in soon!!!!!

contrary to what some may think, my hooters are real, not fake

Emmett is in the mindset that a lot of people think that the Hooters tour is "fake" professional golf. While I understand that the Hooters name doesnt exactly make something legitimate, in this case the Hooters restaurant is actually associated with something very real (except for Mondays). The Hooters girls make appearances 3 out of the 7 days at the tournament. They are there on Mondays driving around beer carts for the members of the course and people in town who sign up to go out to the course and play. People who frequent Hooters restaurants + Hooters girls + lots of beer = a lot of sketchy things. However the golfers are not involved at all in the Monday event, although some may like to be. Their 2nd appearance is Wednesday during the very professional pro-am. During those days they simply sit at the tee box on par 3's and clap for the members and tour members. The last day they show up is one that Emmett and I have not (YET) gotten to participate in. They do the check presentation to the winner on Sunday. Believe me, when they give Emmett a check, we will be taking lots of pictures with them :)

The Hooters Tour is the 3rd best tour to be on in professional golf. The highest is obviously the PGA Tour, second is the Nationwide Tour (owned by the PGA Tour), and then the Hooters. There are a lot of guys on the PGA that have come from the Hooters, most famously, Zack Johnson, Vaughn Taylor, John Daly, and Jim Furyk. They are a very professional orgainzation. Their tournaments are 4 day events where you have to walk, no carts. Some of the mini-tours allow carts but we dont really see the point in this because the goal is to get to the big show and they dont allow carts there, obviously. The purses are $200,000 with $36,000 going to the winner, so there are really good payouts. The calibur of players is also very good. They have a qualifying school that you have to go to to get on the tour, just like the PGA, because so many guys want to play on the premier mini-tour.

So for all you folks out there who were dissolusioned that the Hooters Tour was fake, this may be the only legitimate thing that Hooters does.

who came up with 8 to 5?

What I want to know is what idiot decided that we should work 5 days a week and get only 2 days break? Probably the same idiot who came up with the idea that we should work 8 to 5. Now I realize that work makes the world go round and stock markets and the economy and healthcare and blah blah blah, but I want to know what it would hurt anybody to take just one more day off a week, I'd settle for 1 day of every other week. Basically this is my life right now: I wait around for doctor's all day, come home, watch Law and Order, of course, and go to bed. I am like a merry go round for 5 days a week doing the same thing. Or a hamster on one of those wheels, that sounds more like it. In the summer we non-teachers have to suffer through the knowledge that our teacher friends (who I LOVE very much) are not working, which is pretty much agony. So I am very happy that they are going back to work very soon (sorry Kat and JoJo). For all you younsters out there who have not yet entered into the world of benefits, paychecks, and bills, take a hint from my husband: get a sugar mama or daddy and stay outside all day, even in the heat it sure as hell beats 8 to 5.
Ive finally figured out the very worst thing about being away from Emmett. When he is gone I beg time to go by quickly, I want to wake up and have 3 weeks gone so he will be back with me. But when I think about life with him, I don't want to rush ANYTHING, I want to have every moment and every day just go on forever because one more day gone is one less day I get to be with him. Does that make sense?
For the last item, Rock Band rules and so does me turning 27 because that means my wonderful husband is getting it for me!!!!! I dominate the microphone and my dream is to beat Frank on the guitar. Im out for you Mullins.

Hooters Girls Dont Love Us but Law and Order Does

PLAYOFF!!!! Emmett shot 64 in the final round today to come from 2 back to tie for the lead at 17 under. He went into a playoff with some guy that you cant even pronounce his name and I have a suspicion he is ghetto because I haven't heard of him before. Anyways he went to a sudden death playoff and lost :( It was sad but I am so proud of him, this is his best finish so far this season. He did a lot of work this off season, switching coaches and re-vamping his swing (which is a LOT of v hard work). It was a struggle at the beginning going from being a "range rat" to competition with a whole new movement but he has finally gotten into the swing of things. Haha. I think secretly he just doesnt want to win without me there because I would be jealous of the Hooters girls in hot pants giving him a fat check. But he still got a fat check this week and for the record I love the Hooters girls, especially when they have my husbands name on their cheeks, I mean check :) I am so proud of Emmett, he works so hard and the win will be soooooo sweet, hopefully itll be in NY in 3 weeks. Dont be jealous of NY because, first of all, its in Rochester, and second of all I cant go, third of all, gossip girl isnt filming right now so we wouldn't be able to see them anyway.
On another note, if I had a dollar for every episode of Law and Order we watched I could buy America, or maybe the World. It is the best show on T.V. Briscoe + Green + McCoy + Sutherland + Fred Thompson is my favorite cast and even though you might be prejudiced because it comes on literally all the time, if you've never watched it you are seriously missing out. DA's are so cool.
Lastly, Rianne watch out, I rule on the microphone. We played rock band last night, and Im good, what can I say. Emmett and I are going to practice like crazy and kick some ass. Look for it in the near future. I rock on the guitar too btw.

R.S.V.P.

Emmett and I went through a phase where we were at RSVP in Augusta almost everyday for lunch. I believe this was a significant factor in making me fat. We have cut back a lot but I still love to come here for lunch once in a while, when I don't have to bring lunch to a doctor's office, which not is not very often. If they ever closed I would be devistated.
Emmett shot 66 yesterday so he played very well. It is so funny to talk to him about golf because when you play a sport for a living there is so much that goes on in your mind. As most of you know, my knowledge of golf was non existant before Emmett and I met. I went to the Masters for the egg salad and pimento cheese (which I starved myself the day before we went to the tournament, this year and ate my bodyweight in: it only comes once a year so you have to make it count). When we started to get to know each other we were both trying to come up withe sneaky ways to spend time together just to feel out the other person. I suggested he give me golf lessons, so he takes me to Forest Hills and makes me hit literally 100 balls. I could not move but didnt want him to think I was ghetto or lazy so I kept hitting ball after ball.
That was my first foray into the golf world and I quickly became fully immersed. Emmett calls me right after his round everyday, and I usually can tell right off the bat whether he played well or not, so sometimes I just dont ask. If he did play well our conversation goes like this: "How'd you play babe" "Ok" "Whats okay" "63." Haha. For those of you who dont know that is much better than "ok." But as much as they dont want to admit it, all golfers are superstitious and dont want to speak too early about playing good in case it gynxes them for the next round.
When the money you are able to take home to your family is entirely based on whether you make putts or not, 4 footers can turn in to 100 footers in your mind very easily.
Emmett always says that 4-5 footers are the hardest to make even though they should be easy. Those are the putts that you feel like you should make everytime and put so much pressure on your mind that you talk yourself out of them.
Enough golf, Im bored with it, like usual.

Austin

While I sit in my blazing hot pimpala waiting to go into a doctor's office I wanted to give you all a brief preview of what a week is like for Emmett on the Hooters tour, warning: its far from the glamorous life many think that he leads. He left Monday for Austin, TX and will be gone 2 weeks. Tuesday morning his flight left Atlanta at 8 and he got to Austin around 9 local time. After getting a rental car and a 3 hour drive to the golf course, he walked 18 holes (with his bag, no caddy), in about 110 degree heat, finishing up the practice round at 7:30 (the course is very slow when 120 guys are trying to get in a round). He stopped to eat on the way back to the hotel (sweet deal on Priceline for an OMNI this week, usually its a Super 8) and pretty much crashed. Yesterday he woke up and played in the Pro-AM (you get carts for that!) which finished again around 7:30. This morning he got up at 5:30 to get out to the course and be ready to tee off at 8am. Ill keep you posted on how he does, Hurricane Dolly is currently putting a damper on the Hooters Tour play right now, but you can always track his progress at hooterstour.com. We are so grateful for all our friends who follow him religiously.
Meanwhile Ill be wishing I could have gotten a tint job darker than legal on this damn BLACK impala!!!!

The Beginning

I really love all the blogs I get to read of people who have very interesting lives. Unfortunately ours is not that interesting....yet. Alot of people are always asking about how Emmett is doing and where he is and what he finished, so I figured I could keep everyone up to date on his exciting life, and my not so exciting life. Hopefully both of our lives will become much more exciting around December time frame, start praying now!
